A Ghanaian school, built the way we wished ours had been.
Star Avenue School has been teaching in Accra since 1981. We take children from twelve months old in Creche through to the end of primary, on one campus in Kokomlemle, with the same expectations at every level.
The school is organised around one thing: classes small enough that a teacher can name every child’s reading level. Everything else — the two adults in every early-years room, the half-term reading check, the fees — follows from that.

Community-led
At the heart of our school is a strong sense of community. We believe children thrive when they are known, valued and supported by the people around them. Our close-knit environment lets us build meaningful relationships with our pupils and families, and create a school where every child matters.
Small class sizes
We intentionally maintain small class sizes so that every child receives the attention they deserve. Our teachers are able to understand each child's individual strengths, needs and learning style, providing closer guidance and meaningful support throughout their educational journey.
A tailored approach to learning
We are a Ghana Education Service school, following the national curriculum while enriching it with a wide range of resources and experiences. Learning should extend beyond textbooks, so we carefully incorporate additional materials, activities and teaching approaches to make it engaging, relevant and enjoyable.
Learning through activity
Our lessons are activity-focused and child-centred. Children learn by doing, exploring, creating, questioning and discovering. From hands-on classroom activities to practical projects and demonstrations, we aim to make learning something children actively experience rather than simply something they are taught.
Developing the whole child
Education goes beyond academics. We provide opportunities for children to discover their interests, develop new talents and build confidence through a rich programme of extracurricular activities.

Every section keeps the same shape of day.
7:00 – 8:00
Arrival and welcome
Children arrive, settle into their classrooms and enjoy a little free play, either outdoors or indoors.
8:00 – 8:15
Morning assembly and circle time
We begin the day together with greetings, songs and a short morning gathering. For our younger children this includes simple circle-time routines such as the weather, the day, and what to expect.
8:15 – 10:00
Learning and discovery
Children move into their classrooms for focused learning. Depending on their age this may include phonics, early reading and writing, numeracy, songs, rhymes, language development and Bible stories.
10:00 – 10:30
Snack and outdoor play
Snacks are served, followed by time outdoors to run, play, explore and develop physical and social skills.
10:30 – 12:00
Lessons
Children return to their classrooms for further learning and activities.
12:00 – 14:00
Lunch, rest and quiet time
Lunch is served, followed by nap and rest time for our younger children. Older children enjoy a period of quiet activities and relaxation.

Afternoon play and home time
The afternoon winds down and children are lovingly prepared for home.
