Preschool
Our preschool follows the GES curriculum, but we take it a step further.
From the early years, we build strong academic foundations through a structured curriculum and well-organised classroom environments. Children are introduced to writing from an early age, with reading beginning from age three. We strongly emphasise phonics, rhymes, songs and language development as well as arts and crafts, allowing children the opportunity to express themselves.
Each classroom is led by a dedicated teacher, supported by assistants, ensuring that children receive the guidance and attention they need throughout the day.
Our aim at this stage is to give every child the strong foundations they need for a smooth and successful transition into primary school.
Children who join us in Crèche usually arrive in Grade 1 as confident readers who are able to form simple sentences, count confidently into the hundreds, and demonstrate a developing understanding of the world in which they live.
What happens in each year of Preschool
Ages are a guide. Where a child's previous schooling suggests a different placement, we say so before admission rather than after.

Creche
1–2 years
Half day or full day. Multiple carers, circle and play times, nappy changing, feeding and nap time, potty training, and an introduction to phonics and pre-writing skills from 24 months.

Nursery
3 years, or approaching 3
Circle time, writing skills, phonics, numeracy, science and more.
- 03
Kindergarten 1
4 years, or approaching 4
Phonics blends, simple sentences, numeracy, Ghanaian Language, French, science and more.

Kindergarten 2
5 years, or approaching 5
Phonics, reading simple story books, UCMAS, French, Ghanaian Language, science and much more. Full preparation for Year 1.

A gentle start to preschool
Our settling-in approach gives each child the time they need to become comfortable in their new environment. Children may begin with short two-hour sessions, allowing them to gradually familiarise themselves with their teachers, new friends and daily routines.
Phonics from the get go
We introduce phonics from Upper Creche, giving our youngest learners an early start for literacy. By starting early, reading becomes a natural and increasingly enjoyable part of their learning journey.
Ghanaian Language, from the start
We believe that language is an important part of a child's identity and connects them to their culture. From the early years, children are introduced to the richness of the Ga language in a simple and engaging way.
A daily note home
Creche parents get a short written note each day. What was eaten, how long they slept, what they enjoyed. No guessing at pick-up.

A preschool day, hour by hour
- 7:00 – 8:00Arrival and welcomeChildren arrive, settle into their classrooms and enjoy a little free play, either outdoors or indoors.
- 8:00 – 8:15Morning assembly and circle timeWe begin the day together with greetings, songs and a short morning gathering. For our younger children this includes simple circle-time routines such as the weather, the day, and what to expect.
- 8:15 – 10:00Learning and discoveryChildren move into their classrooms for focused learning. Depending on their age this may include phonics, early reading and writing, numeracy, songs, rhymes, language development and Bible stories.
- 10:00 – 10:30Snack and outdoor playSnacks are served, followed by time outdoors to run, play, explore and develop physical and social skills.
- 10:30 – 12:00LessonsChildren return to their classrooms for further learning and activities.
- 12:00 – 14:00Lunch, rest and quiet timeLunch is served, followed by nap and rest time for our younger children. Older children enjoy a period of quiet activities and relaxation.
- 14:00 – 15:00Afternoon play and home timeThe afternoon winds down and children are lovingly prepared for home.
