Who to ask about what

What each of them answers for

If you are not sure who to speak to, the front office will point you to the right person. You do not need to go through the head teacher for everything.

  • Head teacher

The school as a whole: teaching quality, staffing, discipline and the school's relationship with GES.

  • Deputy head — Academics

Curriculum coverage across all four sections, the assessment calendar, and the JHS mock examination programme.

  • Head of Preschool

Creche to KG 2: ratios, settling-in, the daily note home, and preschool staffing.

  • Head of Junior High

Basic 7 to Basic 9: BECE preparation, mock examinations and CSSPS placement.

  • School administrator & bursar

Admissions, fees, receipts, records, and the school's statutory returns.

  • Designated safeguarding lead

Every child-protection concern raised, staff training, and the anti-bullying programme.

Raising something

How to raise a concern

Most things are settled fastest by the class teacher. Where they are not, this is the order to go in.

  1. 1

    Class teacher

For anything to do with a child's work, friendships or day-to-day life in the classroom. Catch them at drop-off or send a note in the diary.

  2. 2

    Section head

If it is not resolved within a week, or if it affects more than one class. Ask at the office and they will arrange a time.

  3. 3

    Head teacher

For anything unresolved at section level, or anything about staff conduct. Open door on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

  4. 4

    Safeguarding lead

For anything about a child's safety or welfare, at any point, without going through anyone else first.
