The Term 3 general meeting of the Parent–Teacher Association was held in the assembly hall on Friday 24 April at 3:30pm. Ninety-four parents attended. This is a summary; the full minutes are on the parent noticeboard and available from the office.
Head teacher's report
The head teacher reported on the term. Enrolment stands at 706 pupils across the four sections. Two additional Basic 5 streams open in September to keep class sizes within the cap.
The Basic 9 cohort had completed its fourth mock examination, and individual revision plans had gone home with every candidate.
Treasurer's report
The PTA account stood at GH₵ 41,280.00 at the close of Term 2. Income for the year to date was GH₵ 68,400.00, of which GH₵ 12,900.00 came from the sports day refreshment stand and the harvest.
Expenditure of GH₵ 27,120.00 covered the shade canopies on the field, the two new water dispensers in the Basic 1–3 block, and a contribution to the ICT laboratory workstations.
The accounts were accepted without objection.
Bus route review
The review carried over from Term 2 was presented. One morning route is running consistently over capacity, with journey times of over an hour for the earliest pick-ups.
Decision: That route will be split in two from September. The additional cost is estimated at GH₵ 3,200 a month. The meeting voted to fund the first term from PTA reserves and to review the fee position in October.
Library appeal
The appeal to double the size of the library has raised GH₵ 18,600.00 of its GH₵ 45,000.00 target. Donations of books are also welcome, particularly readers at Basic 1 to Basic 3 level and Ghanaian-authored fiction for the Junior High.
Decision: proceeds from the sports day and speech day refreshment stands go to the appeal for the remainder of the year.
PTA levy 2026/2027
The executive proposed holding the levy at GH₵ 150.00 per family per year, rather than the increase to GH₵ 200.00 discussed in Term 2, on the grounds that the reserve position is healthy.
Carried, 71 votes to 9, with 14 abstentions.
Any other business
- A request for a second crossing warden at the front gate at closing time. The school agreed to fund one from Term 1.
- A question about the timing of the termly report collection. Report collection stays on the Friday of the last week, but the office will open a second window on the following Monday morning for parents who cannot attend.
- A request for the mid-term grade sheet to be sent by WhatsApp as well as on paper. The school will look at whether this can be done without compromising confidentiality, and report back in Term 1.
Next meeting
The Term 1 general meeting is on Friday 2 October 2026 at 3:30pm in the assembly hall. The agenda will circulate one week beforehand. Items for Any Other Business should reach the secretary three days before.
